Maldives Islamic University (IUM) has opened a bid to develop a tower of 14-storeys in the second phase of reclaimed suburb Hulhumale.

IUM announced that the tower would be developed on a plot of 19,369 square feet, with the building occupying 14,343 square feet of the land. Interested parties are to submit their proposals before December 3.

The government recently awarded land plots from 240 hectares of land reclaimed in Hulhumale phase two for state companies to develop total 62 towers of 25-storeys each, targeting to provide housing for some 80,000 residents.

The government has plans to develop 15,000 flats in Hulhumale with aims to complete them by 2019.
