Yameen Rasheed, 29, a popular social media activist and blogger was found murdered early April 23, 2017.
The Criminal Court decided to cancel the trail for the murder of renown Maldivian blogger Yameen Rasheed, who was killed brutally last year April.
The state is charging six individuals for homicide with a sharp object while a seventh is charged as an accomplice. Monday’s hearing was for the former, who are Ismail Haisham Rasheed, Ahmed Zihaan Ismail, Mohamed Dhifraan, Hassan Shifaaz, Ismail Rasheed and Hussain Ziyadh.
It is not clear why the hearing was cancelled. Currently, preliminary hearings are ongoing and are to be held behind closed doors.
The 29-year-old social media activist had received numerous death threats in the past before he was found murdered with over 30 stab wounds by the stairway of his apartment.
