President Abdulla Yameen Abdul Gayoom has stated that no patriot would tolerate anyone causing damage to this beloved motherland of ours. The President made this remark while speaking at the function organized by Progressive Party of Maldives this evening. The President was accompanied by First Lady Fathimath Ibrahim.
The President said that each Maldivian had every right to this beautiful, small island nation that our forefathers sacrificed their lives for.
President Yameen also reassured that today there weren’t any political detainees in the Maldives. He pointed out that Maldivian political figures were only held in custody according to the justice system of the country, serving sentences which were a result of offences they have committed.
Members of the Cabinet, Members of the Parliament, and Senior Officials of the Administration were in attendance at the function.
