Aasandha Company announced that the newly introduced passport card can now be used to claim “Aasandha” services, the national healthcare insurance scheme of the Maldives.

In a statement made by Aasandha Company, passport cards are now valid as a proof of identity to claim for Aasandha services.

The government had recently declared that passport cards can serve as a proof of identity in place of the National Identity Card.

The passport card can be used for both international and domestic travels, even though passports should always be carried for international travel.

Passport cardholders will also have access to Allied Insurance and the services of Bank of Maldives Ltd (BML) and MasterCard, allowing the card to be used internationally.

Passport cards are used for travel in some developed nations. According to Immigration, the Maldives is the only country in the world to boast a multipurpose card that can also be used in financial transactions and to claim insurance.
