Oman, coached by Yaqoob al Sabahi, will take on Maldives in the opening match of the AFC U16 Championship Group B Qualifier in Hisor, Tajikistan, on Wednesday. The match kicks off at 3 pm. Oman is pooled along with the hosts, Maldives and Syria.
A total of 44 teams are in the fray for the 15 spots available for the AFC U16 Finals in Malaysia next year. Action in ten groups began on September 16. Hosts Malaysia will be the 16th team in the finals.
After the Maldives match, Oman meets Syria on Friday before concluding its final group engagement with Tajikistan on September 24. The top ten group toppers and the five-best second-places teams will advance to the finals.
