The official function celebrating this year’s Republic Day, and this year’s National Day, will be held together in a combined ceremony on the evening of 16th November 2017.
The Maldives celebrates its Republic Day on November 11th and the National Day on the 1st of Rabi’ul-Awwal, which falls on the November 19th this year.
The annual National Award of Honour and the National Award of Recognition will be conferred during the function on 16th November 2017.
In addition, the President’s Medal will be conferred to individuals who have committed the Quran in its entirety to memory, and to students placed in the world top ten in the IGCSE & GCE O’level examinations, and for the students who were placed in the world top ten in the A’level examinations.
The National Awards Committee is currently evaluating the nominations for the annual National Award of Honour and the National Award of Recognition, while the Special Achievement Award Committee is currently evaluating the nominations for President’s Special Achievement Award.
