The minor who is being charged with murdering Mohamed Anas last July pleaded not guilty at the Juvenile Court on Monday.
The minor, who is 17-years-old, is being charged with first-degree murder, along with several others, for intimidating and attacking Anas with a sharp object.
According to the court, the minor had pleaded not guilty after appointing a lawyer. The lawyer had then requested the court for extra time to prepare his defence.
If the minor is found guilty, he could potentially be sentenced to death. The details of the minor were not revealed as it is against the law to divulge information on minors being charged with criminal offences.
Seven others are also being indicted for Anas’ murder. They are being charged with murder under the Prohibiting Threatening and Possession of Dangerous Weapons and Sharp Objects Act, while three individuals are being charged for being accomplices in the crime.
