TMA wins the World’s Leading Seaplane Operator Award 7th consecutive year

Trans Maldivian Airways (TMA) has been awarded both the Indian Ocean’s Leading Seaplane Operator and the World’s Leading Seaplane Operator of 2020 at the Grand Final of the World Travel Awards 2020. This is the 6th consecutive year since 2014 for TMA to bag the World’s Leading Seaplane Operator award and the 7th consecutive year to win the Indian Ocean’s Leading Seaplane Operator award.

World Travel Awards established in 1993, is the most prestigious honours program in the global travel and tourism industry recognized globally as the ultimate hallmark of industry excellence. It serves to acknowledge, reward, and celebrate excellence across all sectors of the global travel and tourism industry.

“We are immensely honoured & humbled to be awarded as both “The Indian Ocean’s Leading Seaplane Operator & The World’s Leading Seaplane Operator 2020” by non-other than @worldtravelawards (WTA) for the 7th consecutive year since 2014,” a statement by Trans Maldivian Airways read. “Our heartfelt gratitude to everyone who supported us on our 31-year journey to excellence, our #TMAPartners, mutual guests & most importantly #TMAteam for making this a reality for us again.”

TMA operates its own seaplane terminal at Velana International Airport with many exclusive resort lounges and a fleet of air-conditioned buses, VIP vehicles, baggage vehicles and many dedicated resort vehicles for intra-airport transfers. The doorstep delivery and pick up at the resorts are done at floating platforms, customized as resort airports. Trans Maldivian transports about 1 million passengers per year.

TMA is considered to be the backbone of the tourism infrastructure in the country and has always played a pivotal role in enhancing and facilitating the growth of the tourism industry in the Maldives.
