Quest Kodiaks To Form New Maldives Seaplane Fleet

Quest Aircraft parent company Setouchi Holdings has entered a joint-venture agreement with Maldives state-run airline Island Aviation Services to launch a seaplane operation, Sky Atoll Private. It will initially operate four Quest Kodiak 100s.

Sky Atoll Private will dispatch the aircraft throughout the Republic of Maldives, which is made up of 1,200 coral islands. Seaplanes are the primary source of travel to these islands, Quest noted, adding “the scale of seaplane operations is among the largest in the world.”

The Sky Atoll Private Kodiaks will be equipped with Aerocet 6750 straight floats, which were certified on the turboprop single earlier this year. The Kodiak does not require structural changes or aerodynamic fixes for float operations, Quest said.

Island Aviation Services, established by the Maldives government in 2000, flies on both domestic and international routes and also operates seaplanes.
