A youth has been charged for an accident that took place in reclaimed suburb Hulhumale last August, in which a person died.
In Thursday’s hearing at the Juvenile Court, the prosecution stated that the minor had been speeding on a motorcycle and crashed into a man named Ibrahim Rasheed, of Thaa atoll Thimarafushi island, killing him.
The state is charging the driver with negligent homicide. The hearings are underway at the Juvenile Court.
After the accident, which occurred in front of Habib Bank in Hulhumale, the driver had fled the scene leaving the motorcycle behind. A second youth, the passenger on the defendant’s motorcycle, was arrested at the time.
