The Thulusdhoo Magistrate Court in Kaafu atoll has ordered to remand a local man, who is under arrest in connection to the death of an expatriate in Himmafushi island, until the end of his trial.
The local was arrested Tuesday after a Bangladeshi national, 38, employed at the Life water plant in Himmafushi died last Saturday.
According to sources, the local man, 33, is a former policeman who has close relations with the manager of the water plant. The manager is also said to have been suspended in connection to the case.
The deceased’s body is currently in the Galolhu Mortuary in capital Male City, though the reason for keeping the body remains unclear.
