COVID-19 Update for 26th April

Confirmed cases of COVID-19 in the Maldives have reached 191, with no fatalities reported so far.

Virus Timeline in the Country

A total of 50 cases has been reported, which includes 41 foreigners and 9 Locals. Health Minister Ameen has hinted that the ongoing lockdown in the Greater Male’ area could be extended once again.

170 individuals, tested negative twice for COVID-19, have been released from quarantine after 14 days.

Multiple residential islands have been placed under monitoring in connection to Amaazu boat case.

Sh. Narudhoo, Sh. Funadhoo, Sh, Feevah, Sh. Maaugoodhoo, and N. Holhudhoo have been placed under monitoring by HPA due to connections with Amaazu Boat case.

Significant rise in the price of Kandhoodhoo chilli

Due to lockdown, the supply of Kandhoodhoo chilli has fallen, hence prices have risen significantly. In Male’ the prices of the Kandhodhoo chilli are between MVR 2300 to MVR 2500 per kilo. However, Kandhoodhoo island has been selling chilli for MVR 700 to MVR 800 per kilo.
