Alke-Turmacs, the Turkish contractors building the biggest private hospital in the Maldives, ‘Tree Top Hospital’, on Sunday revealed that the construction work on the hospital has now been completed.
The construction of the hospital, which is located in reclaimed suburb Hulhumale, commenced in 2015 and the contractors had aimed to open the hospital by mid-2017.
Spokesperson from Alke-Turmacs said that the company is confident that ‘Tree Top Hospital’ will rival the best hospitals in the Southeast Asian region in terms of facilities, as well as services.
‘Tree Top Hospital’ is a project of by Tree Top Investments – a company comprising of a group of wealthy locals.
The new hospital will have several state-of-the-art features, including various specialist centres within the hospital, the spokesperson said.
“There will be an Intensive Care Unit (ICU), a labour, delivery and new-born care unit, and a fully-equipped dialysis centre with over 10 machines,” he elaborated.
Further, there will also be a special oncologist centre with facilities available for chemotherapy.
Other facilities available at the new hospital include a full-fledged radiology department with all the modern machinery needed for various scans, and a large laboratory to run tests.
‘Tree Top Hospital’ is a USD 90 million (MVR 1.3 billion) investment, on over 300,000 square-metres of land. There is also a hotel developed next to the hospital, which would provide accommodation for the staff, suites for patients and a restaurant.
The management of the hospital will be overseen by Ramsay Sime Darby Health Centre, which is a joint venture of Australia’s leading hospital operating group Ramsay Health Care and Malaysian-based multinational conglomerate Sime Darby.
