‘One Stop Shop’ to Be Developed for Businesses by 2021

Fayyaz Ismail, Minister of Economic Development, has said that the Ministry is working to develop a ‘one-stop-shop’ where businesses can get all the services they require through one platform by 2021.

The scheme would be developed through the government’s Tradenet Maldives Corporation Limited (TMCL) as a business model and would make it easier for businesses to get the services they need. Fayyaz added that they are working on making the commercial environment in the Maldives more service-oriented, providing ease for businesses to provide their services to customers as well.

Through this system, businesses can continue their operations even at night. The aim of the scheme is to improve the relations between businesses and customers.

Additionally, the Ministry of Economic Development is working on launching a corporate model call centre for the Ministry. According to Fayyaz, the Ministry was not able to attend to all the calls they received due to the lack of manpower, and that through the new call centre, this issue would be resolved.

The Ministry has also planned to expand the fisheries and agriculture industry of the nation. He pointed out that fisheries and agriculture products needed to have certain health and safety requirements and with those requirements, it would be easy to sell these products to different markets of the world.

Minister Fayyaz pointed out that the government would be carrying out a state-level intervention to promote agriculture in the Maldives as well.
