Maldives Ports Ltd (MPL) on Tuesday awarded the project to restore the quay walls of the Commercial Harbour and T-Jetty in capital Male to Maldives Transport and Contracting Company (MTCC) for MVR 9 million.

The agreement was signed by MPL’s CEO Ibrahim Abdul Razzaq Haleem and MTCC’s CEO Ibrahim Ziyath.

Regarding the project, MPL’s CEO Haleem told Mihaaru that the bollards and cappings of the Commercial Harbour and T-Jetty are greatly damaged, which poses difficulties for marine vessels to dock at the wharf.

Noting that their renovation was previously neglected, Haleem stated that the project was awarded to MTCC due to the company’s experience and efficiency.

MTCC has been granted a period of two months each for both renovations. The company will commence work within 28 days.
