Mohamed Mihad to be Appointed as MD of Island Aviation

The President’s Office has proposed to the Privatization and Corporatization Board (PCB) to appoint Mohamed Mihad as Managing Director of Island Aviation.

PCB is currently evaluating Mihad for the position, and he will be officially confirmed for the position by PCB after the vetting process.

The decision to appoint Mihad for the MD position has come after President Ibrahim Solih put forward to terminate ex-MD Mohamed Rizvi from the position and relocate him to Regional Airport Company as Managing Director.

Regional Airport Company was established last year September under an executive order, to handle and manage airports in the Maldives as a business. The company is tasked with the development of all regional airports.

Mohamed Mihad had previously filled the Managing Director position of Maldives Tourism Development Corporation (MTDC) from years 2008 to 2012. He is currently occupying a board member position at Maldives Airports Company Limited (MACL).
