When the voting for Maldives Association of Travel Agents and Tour Operators (MATATO) Travel Award Gala Edition closed, more than 100000 votes were received. Voting for the Gala Edition of most prestigious travel awards presented in Maldives was opened on 20 October 2017 and closed at midnight on 21 November 2017.
According to MATATO, 230 nominations from 27 categories were made for this year’s Travel awards Gala Edition. 41000 votes were made via SMS and 59000 via the online portal.
This year, the wards will be given based on 40% of Trip Advisor reviews and 60% SMS and online voting. Travel Awards were separated into 3 editions this year. The first one was Peoples Edition and the second Guesthouse Edition which was held on 30 October.
Last and final edition Travel Awards Gala edition will be held at Adaaran Select Hudhuranfushi on 23 November 2017. International and local VIPs and travel industry personalities are expected at the gala.
