India has declared a 21-day lockdown from 25th March onwards, to contain the spread of COVID-19 pandemic in the nation. Amid this lockdown, the Indian Embassy has stated they will maintain the supply of staple food to the Maldives despite the lockdown.
An Embassy officer stated, even though there are difficulties in logistics due to the spread of COVID-19, they will maintain the supply of staple food to the Maldives as before.
He further added that they have already shipped staple food worth of 20 days, and those will reach Male’ city soon.
STO’s Managing Director Hussain Amru has also ensured the public that there won’t be any shortage of staple food.
India has reported 519 positive cases of COVID-19.
