Maldives Inland Revenue Authority (MIRA) recorded a government revenue of MVR 1 billion for the month of August.

Official statistics indicate that the revenue for the previous month was 0.4 percent lower than the revenue in August 2016. MIRA attributed this drop to delays in submitting some fees of July 2016 to August of that year.

According to MIRA, MVR 39.7 billion of the total monthly revenue was in US Dollars.

The highest revenue was from Goods and Services Tax (GST) at 46 percent, followed by Land Acquisition Fees. The revenue also encompasses income from Business Profit Tax (BPT), Green Tax, Airport Service Charge and other fees.
