Central Bank Maldives Monetary Authority (MMA) stated that the banks would resume its services on weekdays (Sunday to Thursday) starting from the 5th of July. This has been decided as the country has now entered into the 3rd phase of lockdown ease.
MMA revealed in a tweet that the banking services will have been made available from 08:30 am to 02:00 pm on weekdays. MMA also revealed that customers can submit desired letters and make enquires at the same timings.
According to MMA, they would be issuing denomination banknotes on coins every week on Tuesdays and Thursdays through pre-booked appointments only.
MMA stated that in order to make requests for these services customers must SMS or Viber their details such as name, ID card number or passport number, present address, contact number, and the details of the service required to the mobile number 7919292.
MMA urged customers to take health and safety precautionary measures such as wearing masks when visiting the MMA.
