A 23-year-old was stabbed in the capital while under state care, local media reported.
The man was receiving treatment from the National Drug Agency and was attacked Wednesday while on the back of a pick-up truck outside the agency’s building in Malé, Avas said.
The NDA confirmed to Avas he was stabbed on a hired pick-up. A separate source said the NDA had been notified of a threat to the victim before the attack.
Police confirmed he was stabbed in the back with a sharp object and that his condition was not fatal.
So far 12 cases of assault have been reported in 2018, according to the Maldives Police Service.
