President Ibrahim Mohamed Solih has expressed condolences following the death of the Eswatini Prime Minister, Ambrose Dlamini.
The 52-year-old prime minister died on December 13 in a South African hospital four weeks after testing positive for Covid-19. While he was moved there on December 1 to “guide and fast-track his recovery”, the Eswatini government did not mention the exact cause of Dlamini’s death.
In a message to Eswatini’s King Mswati III, President Solih said that he was saddened to hear the news of the prime minister’s passing and added that Dlamini’s “contributions to the progress and prosperity of Eswatini will always be remembered”.
He further extended condolences from the government and people of Maldives.
Maldivian Foreign Minister, Abdulla Shahid also sent a message expressing condolences to his counterpart in the African nation.
Eswatini has reported over 6,800 coronavirus infections and 130 deaths.
