Maldives president visits MIA

Maldives President Ibrahim Mohamed Solih and his wife Fazna Ahmed, and the accompanying delegation visited the Museum of Islamic Art on Monday.

He toured the various sections of the museum and viewed its collections of Islamic antiquities and artefacts that include rare treasures of heritage, including books, manuscripts and coins, in addition to items made of glass, ivory, textiles, wood and precious stones, and artefacts collected from three continents that date back to 14 centuries.

The Maldivian delegation also toured “A Falcon’s Eye: Tribute to Sheikh Saoud Al-Thani” exhibition that is being held at the Museum of Islamic Art, which includes nearly 300 artworks and antiquities acquired by Sheikh Saoud al-Thani.
The president listened to an explanation about the establishment of the Museum of Islamic Art and its role in spreading science, culture and arts, concluding his visit by signing in the museum’s golden record.
