Minister of Finance Ibrahim Ameer has announced that the economic downfall due to the COVID-19 pandemic may cause MVR 10 billion in a budget deficit.
Speaking at the press conference held today (1st April) at Dharubaaruge, the Minister said that the government income has decreased.
The government has imposed a temporary ban on the arrival of tourists, which as caused a huge toll on the Maldivian economy.
Government and relevant authorities are taking necessary measures to overcome this crisis.
