Bangabandhu is an icon of democracy and self-determination, and his legacy would endure for many generations to come, said Maldives President Ibrahim Mohamed Solih while paying homage to the Father of the Nation at Bangabandhu Memorial Museum in Dhanmondi-32 today.
“It is my great honour to visit this museum paying tribute to the life and accomplishments of Sheikh Mujibur Rahman, whose lifelong struggle paved the way for Bangladesh to reach her destiny as an independent nation,” Ibrahim Mohamed Solih wrote on the visiting book of the museum.
“I pray to Allah (SWT) to grant mercy to his soul and grant him the highest ranks of Jannat-ul-Firdous,” the Maldives president wrote.
President Solih also placed a wreath at Bangabandhu’s portrait on museum premises.
Earlier, on his arrival, Maldives President Solih was received by Sheikh Rehana, the younger daughter of Bangabandhu.
State Minister for Foreign Affairs Shahriar Alam and museum trustee NI Khan were present at the time, among others.
