The first positive case of a Bangladeshi migrant was confirmed on April 18
The tally of Bangladeshi migrants testing positive for the novel coronavirus is exactly the same as the citizens of the Maldives who contracted Covid-19.
As of 12:48 am on Saturday (Maldivian local time), 47 Bangladeshis and Maldivians each was reported to be coronavirus positive in the island nation. All Bangladeshi patients are males.
Alarmingly, 14 Bangladeshis were diagnosed with the virus each on April 23 and 19 alone.
A community survey and assessment of a single vulnerable house led to the confirmation of 14 Bangladeshi patients on April 23.
The first positive case of a Bangladeshi migrant was confirmed on April 18. The individual, 32, came into direct contact with a female Maldivian.
The total count of infected people jumped to 117, according to the country’s Ministry of Health. Bangladeshi and Maldivian Covid-19 patients in the Indian Ocean archipelago account for 40.17% apiece of the total pie, followed by Italian nationals (9.40%).

Of the infected, 88 are males, mostly in the age bracket of 31-40 years. The females aged between 41 and 50 are most exposed to the virus as their count (eight) is the highest on the list.
There is no death reported in the country while 16 patients recovered till date. Plus, only one patient has been hospitalized so far.
The Maldives has been seeing a steady rise in the curve since April 16, when there were merely 28 reported cases.
The country on March 6 reported its first two cases of coronavirus.
Recently, Bangladesh through its Navy ship sent more than 100 tons of food, medicines, and medical equipment as assistance to the Maldives in the wake of the Covid-19 pandemic.
