Minister of Finance and Treasury Ahmed Munawar proclaimed on Monday that the health sector is a top priority for President Abdulla Yameen as he gives importance to provision of proper healthcare for the youth of the nation.
He made the remark while inaugurating the “National Health Accounts 2014” on Monday night.
In his speech, the minister highlighted that in a country like the Maldives where natural resources are lacking, youth are the biggest asset and therefore high priority is given for their health.
National Health Accounts is a software developed to analyze the health sector. It also monitors the entities that invest in the sector as well as the amounts invested.
Statistics show that nine percent of the 2014 GDP was spent on the health sector.
