Winners awarded for the 2nd Edition of AoM video competition

Winners of the 2nd Edition of the Adventures of Maldives Video Competition (Dhivehi Aahitha) were awarded on 30th January 2018 at an event held in Champa Central Hotel by Maldives Marketing and Public Relations Corporation (MMPRC). The event was attended by the Minister of Tourism, Mr Ali Waheed, the Managing Director of Maldives Marketing & Public Relations Corporation, Mr Thoyyib Mohamed, Title Sponsor of the competition, Red Bull, and co-sponsors Euro Marketing Pvt. Ltd & Techstreet Pvt. Ltd, the Media Partner (PSM) and Digital Media Partner (Maldives.net) and Printing Partner (DhiPrint). The event was also attended by the Judges of the competition and participants and winners of the competition.

The aim of the competition was to showcase personally shot video clips of locals and tourists engaging in adventurous activities in the Maldives. Adventures of the Maldives, which is a co-promotional marketing activity was initiated in the year 2017, has had a positive impact on the promotional value to the Maldives as a tourist destination.

The 2nd Edition of the Adventures of Maldives was launched in October 2018 and the competition concluded in December with a total of 27 videos submitted by locals as well as tourists from multiple nationalities. Videos were submitted by nationals from China, India, UK, Russia, Sweden, Austria, South Africa, Hungary & Romania. Within 2 weeks, the videos were watched over 200,000 times and received over 23,000 reactions and 3000 shares.

The winners were selected by a judging panel consisting of 5 members from a technical and marketing background. Submissions to the competition included personally shot video clips of locals and tourists engaging in adventurous activities in the Maldives. The winner of this competition, Ahmed Fazeel, received total prize money of MVR 100,000. The prize money was sponsored by the Title Sponsor, Red Bull.

The Runner-up, Ali Mamdhooh, was awarded MVR 20,000, sponsored by Euro Marketing Pvt Ltd. The 2nd Runner-up, Paul Lojszczyk, a British by nationality, received a GoPro Hero 5, which was sponsored by Tech Street. The Top 10 videos will be featured on the official YouTube Channel of MMPRC (Visit Maldives) and endorsed on other social and online media channels of MMPRC (Visit Maldives) as well as International Travel and Trade Fairs.
