Judge Abdulla Arif who is appointed to the Judicial Service Commission (JSC) by the Supreme Court was elected as the commission’s president late Monday.
According to JSC, all the members that participated in the meeting unanimously voted to elect Judge Arif as the commission’s head. However, JSC did not disclose the total number of votes Arif received.
Judge Arif was appointed to the JSC after term ended for its previous president and Supreme Court’s Judge Ali Hameed. Judge Hameed has been hospitalised since last Thursday due to his medical condition.
