The Supreme Court has canceled the candidacy of two candidates of Jumhoory Party (JP) running for the upcoming Local Council Elections.

The two candidates are Fareedha Umar of Noonu atoll Landhoo island and Imran Anwar of Gaafu Alif atoll Villingilli island. Both candidacies were abolished as the two had initially run and failed the primaries with electoral tickets of other parties before applying as JP candidates.

The Elections Commission announced the cancellation on Wednesday as per the verdict of the Supreme Court last Monday.
