The Ambassador of Pakistan pays farewell call on the President – Press Releases

The Ambassador of the Islamic Republic of Pakistan to the Republic of Maldives, H.E. Vice Admiral (Rtd) Syed Khawar Ali Shah, paid his farewell call on President Abdulla Yameen Abdul Gayoom, this morning, at the President’s Office.

During the call, the President conveyed greetings and good wishes to Prime Minister Shahid Khaqan Abbasi, President Mamnoon Hussain, and the people of Pakistan, and conveyed thanks and appreciation for the continuous support and services provided to the Maldives during the Ambassador’s tenure.

Noting that the Maldives and Pakistan have enjoyed historic and close bilateral ties based on mutual respect, understanding and shared values, the President expressed hope and confidence that the Maldives and Pakistan will continue working together on regional and international issues of mutual concern, to further strengthen the existing ties between the two countries.

The Ambassador emphasised that it was an immense pleasure to have served as the Ambassador of Pakistan to the Maldives. He noted that Pakistan and the Maldives have always had excellent relations and that the two countries have become even closer in all spheres of life in recent years.

The Ambassador further noted that the Maldives stands as an example to other Islamic nations and highlighted that the Maldives has attained all the indicators of a successful middle income country.

The call ended with the President wishing the Ambassador success in all his future endeavours.

The President was accompanied at the call by the Acting Minister of Foreign Affairs, Uza. Aishath Azima Shakoor, the Minister of State for Foreign Relations at the President’s Office, H.E. Mohamed Naseer, and the Secretary, Bilateral at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, H.E. Ahmed Khaleel.
