Sun Resorts takes a shine to Maldives luxury – TTR Weekly

LHAVIYANI ATOLL, MALDIVES, 12 April 2017: Sun Resorts owned and managed, Kanuhura Maldives, has undergone a USD42 million  overhaul that includes the purchase of Masleggihura island.

Consisting of three islands in the northern quadrant of the Lhaviyani Atoll the original property opened almost two decades ago.

A reimagining of the resort positions it for the latest trending, travellers identified as Gypset; part gypsy in their drive for freedom and  jetset, reflected in their wealth and craving for luxury living.

Following the design overhaul of Kanuhura, Sun Resorts CEO David Anderson, appointed Robert Hauck as general manager, formerly of Raffles Hotels and Resorts and Thanyapura Phuket.

“We have a sheltered location over three islands and are blessed with a heritage of repeat guests over the past 20 years,” said Hauck. “We are now developing experiences for guests where they can stay fit and totally relax.”

The options include the escapism and tranquillity on Masleggihura island to a 300-metre sea swim to Jehunuhura island, a 2.25km round island run on Kanuhura and soon to be launched Project South, which will be the first martial arts academy in the Maldives led by two-time world Muay Thai champion, Irshaad Sayed.
