Police Club and MPL will come head to head on the final match of the tenth edition of 18/30 Women’s Futsal Fiesta tonight. It is perhaps the rematch of the last year’s final, where MPL defeated Police Club on penalties, after a 1-1 draw. Can Police Club take revenge, on MPL on this special edition of the tournament?
Statistics of the tournament says that Police Club could bring an end to their trophy drought in the tournament tonight. They are the only team who were unable to snatch the trophy, despite appearing on the final in several times.
Police Club has scored more than the double number of goals that MPL has scored so far in the tournament. They have scored 10 goals per game and MPL have 4 goals per game. On the other hand, MPL has a good defensive record with 1.25 goals conceded per game, whereas Police has 2.
MPL defeated Team Fenaka, Club WAMCO and Club Immigration in the group stage by 5-1, 3-1 and 2-1 respectively. They progressed to the final, defeating Dhivehi Sifainge Club (DSC) in the semifinal by 6-2, scoring a total of 16 goals.
Police Club’s journey to the final shows that they enjoyed scoring goals so far, when they defeated Trade Club 8-0, DSC by 4-3 with a stoppage-time winner from Sakuna and Fen Club amazingly by 20-0. They also knocked out the prolific Club Immigration in the semifinals, defeating them 8-5, to register 40 goals in the tournament.
Is that the weakness of the opponents, why the statistics speak in favour of Police Club? Or is it their deadly attacks which favours them?
If MPL is to defend their championship tonight, Fathimath Shaliya shall bravely support their goalkeeper, Azam Akhondi, to stop Police Club’s most dangerous weapon, Sakuna Sanabuth.
