President-elect Ibrahim Mohamed Solih (Ibu) has made the decision to reside at the presidential residence, Muliaage, after his inauguration.
A senior official of the opposition coalition has confirmed Solih will reside at Muliaage and Vice President-designate Faisal Naseem will reside at Hilaaleege after the inauguration on November 17.
The presidential residence, Muliaage was used by former Maldivian President Maumoon Abdul Gayoom for only a short period of time during his presidency and resided the rest of the years of his presidency at the Presidential Palace – which now houses the Supreme Court. Former Maldivian President Mohamed Nasheed, on the other hand, chose to reside at Muliaage throughout his presidency.
President Abdulla Yameen Abdul Gayoom, during his presidency, used Muliaage only for official meetings and campaign activities. He chose to continue residing at his house, G. Dhoovehi and later moved to Hilaaleege.
