Siyam: Social interaction essential for national development

National development is impossible unless social relations and interactions are strengthened, says Meedhoo MP Ahmed Siyam Mohamed.

Speaking during the closing ceremony of the costliest football tournament in the Maldives – the Siyam-Mauroof Soccer Cup 2018 – this Thursday, Siyam said every Maldivian citizen wanted development.

“But we cannot develop unless we are in good health. And we cannot develop the nation unless we strengthen our social relations. We need to live as brothers and sisters. We need to help each other. We need to support each other,” said Siyam, the Chairman and Managing Director of Sun Siyam Group.

The fifth Siyam-Mauroof Soccer Cup, held at N. Kendikulhudhoo from November 24 to December 26, was won by the Kendikulhudhoo Football Club.

The champions Kendikulhudhoo Football Club won MVR 600,000 and runner-up N. Holhudhoo Football Club won 100,000.

The annual football tournament is an initiative by Siyam and Kendikulhudhoo MP Ali Mauroof, open to all islands of N. Atoll.
