Second plane of Manta Air arrives in Maldives

The new domestic airline preparing to start operations in the Maldives, Manta Air, has brought their second plane to the country.

The second ATR 72-600 plane arrived in the Maldives to joined the Manta Air fleet via Muscat, Oman. The plane landed at Velana International Airport earlier this evening.

The first plane of the Manta Air fleet arrived on 12 November and the airline was officially launched on 22 November.

Manta Airline is set to launch their flight operations with Dhaalu atoll Kudahuvadhoo followed by Dharavandhoo in Baa Atoll and Thimarafushi in Thaa Atoll after that.

The new airline is set to expand their operation after bringing in a third plane.

The CEO of Manta Air, Mohamed Khaleel has previously said that they would not be adding destinations without building capacity. He said that a major problem facing airlines is taking destinations on contract without the capacity.

Manta Air offers two class on board in the form of Sapphire and Comfort; both cabins with modern designs providing a large leg room.

The airline said that they are set to start operations as soon as the Civil Aviation approves it.
