Progressive Party of Maldives (PPM)’s Parliamentary Group leader Ahmed Nihan threw heavy criticism at Former President Maumoon Abdul Gayoom, saying that his recent tweets indicate that he has connections with people who bear ill will towards the Maldives.

Speaking at the ruling coalition’s rally held last Tuesday night, the lawmaker of Villimale constituency said that despite Maumoon’s numerous efforts in enlightening the nation’s Islamic spirit and being a person who uncannily identifies the “rockets” (missiles) aimed at the Maldives by foreign nations that dislike the Islamic status of the country, Maumoon’s recent tweets indicate a possible link with such foreign bodies.

Hence, Nihan questioned whether Former President Maumoon recalls the lectures he earlier gave to the public about solidification of the Islamic religion in the country.

In addition, he challenged Maumoon to tweet denying his assumption if it is wrong.

Noting that he has never spoken ill of Former President Maumoon before, Nihan declared that he could not resist after hearing pure Maldivians talking ill of the religion of Islam.
