The remand of six expatriate workers arrested in connection to the murder of a local man in Haa Alif atoll Ihavandhoo island has been extended by fifteen days again.

Ismail Umar, 54, was found murdered with multiple wounds on June 16 inside Ihavandhoo’s ice plant where he had worked as a mechanic and the in-charge. This is the third remand for the Bangladeshi nationals who are arrested in connection to this case.

The extension was issued by the magistrate court of Haa Dhaal atoll Kulhudhuffushi island, where the suspects are now thought to be detained.

Police claimed that the investigation into Ismail’s murder is nearly at an end but did not provide further details.
