Prolific Sabitra wins the Queen of the Tournament Award

Sabitra Bhandari of Police Club is entitled as the Queen of the tournament of the 18/30 Women’s Futsal Fiesta (WFF) 2018.

She had a delightful tournament this year, besides the upsetting loss in the final against MPL on penalties. She also won the Top-scorer-of-the-tournament, with a tally of 19 goals in six matches of the tournament, where she reached a remarkable 5 hat-tricks. A double hat-trick came in the group stage match against Economic Development when they won by a huge goal margin of 17-0.

She was also among the best five of the tournament with her teammate Fadhuwa Zahir. She was awarded the Queen of the Match on 3 occasions; one in the group stage, another in the 2nd round and the third in the semi-final.

The 9th edition of the 18/30 WFF is her second appearance in the tournament. She also played for MACL last year, where they were knocked out in the semi-final against Dhivehi Sifainge Club (DSC) 6-4. Sabitra scored a hat-trick in the match. On the other hand, Anita Basnet pared with her in MACL too, last year.

Sabitra Bhandari is a popular footballer in Nepal. She is a Nepal international and has represented the country in a couple of tournaments. She began her career as a professional footballer in 2014. Her talent was much notices in South Asia after a thrilling performance in 4th SAFF Women’s Championship which was held in Sliguri, India. She scored six goals against Bhutan, five against Maldives and one against India in the tournament. She is also the first Nepali women footballer who scored a double hat-trick for the country, which was when she scored six goals against Bhutan in the 4th SAFF Women’s Championship.
