President visits Maldives Embassy in Saudi Arabia – Press Releases

President Abdulla Yameen Abdul Gayoom visited the Maldivian Embassy in Saudi Arabia yesterday afternoon, during his official visit to Saudi Arabia to participate in the “Arab-Islamic-American Summit” held in Riyadh on 21st May 2017.

During his visit, the President signed the visitor’s book and met Embassy staff. Addressing the staff, the President noted the role of the Embassy in strengthening bilateral relationships and in forwarding the policies of the incumbent Administration.

Embassies should work to provide assistance to Maldivian residents in the country the Embassy is established in, the President stated. He also appealed to the Embassy Staff to assist and guide the Hajj pilgrims and Maldivian students studying in Madinah to overcome the challenges they face.

The President further underscored the responsibility of all Foreign Missions in promoting Maldives’ Tourism sector by providing information on opportunities for investment and further developments.

The Minister of Foreign Affairs Dr Mohamed Asim and the Ambassador to Saudi Arabia Abdulla Hameed also addressed the gathering.

The Minister of Fisheries and Agriculture Dr Mohamed Shainee, Minister of State at the President’s Office Mohamed Naseer and Embassy Staff, along with their families, also attended the event.
