PPM lawmakers share public concerns with Maldives pres

Lawmakers of ruling Progressive Party of Maldives (PPM) have presented concerns of the public to President Abdulla Yameen Abdul Gayoom.

Speaking to Mihaaru, a lawmaker of PPM said that the meeting held at the presidential palace with over 30 lawmakers mainly focused on the recently held Local Council Election. He added that the lawmakers presented their reports regarding the election during the meeting.

The lawmaker who spoke to Mihaaru added that most members highlighted the price hike of staple foods a d electricity.

Hence he added that discussions focussed on ways to work collaboratively with the government.

The official admitted that the temporary results of the local election show that most council seats are won by the main opposition Maldivian Democratic Party (MDP).
