Police unveil major steps forward on Inception Day

Maldives Police Service, on Tuesday, inaugurated three major projects to coincide with the institution’s Inception Day.

A ceremony to mark the opening of the Hulhumale’ Police Station was held at the reclaimed suburb from 0830 to 1000 hrs. Minister of Home Affairs Imran Abdulla attended as the chief guest and joined Commissioner of Police Mohamed Hameed in a flag hoisting ceremony.

The following function, held from 1130 to 1230 hrs, recognized the completion of the second phase of Vaanee Operational Schools Development Project, which was funded by the Indian government. Indian High Commissioner Sunjay Sudheer, Minister of Foreign Affairs Abdulla Shahid and Home Minister Imran participated in the ceremony.

Valued at MVR 8 million, the Vaanee Operational Schools Development Project in Dhaalu Atoll consisted of the establishment of a reverse osmosis plant, rappelling tower, swimming platform, gymnasium and gym equipment, as well as the procurement of vehicles.

The inauguration of the Maldives Women in Policing (MWP) and the Project Guardian campaign to end all forms of violence against women, children and families were hosted from 1430 to 1530.

First Lady Fazna Ahmed, Minister of Gender, Family and Social Services Aishath Mohamed Didi, Home Minister Imran and British High Commissioner Carone Rohsler joined the final inauguration ceremony.
