Maldives Police Service on Sunday ordered Thimarafushi MP Mohamed Musthafa, who is accused of spreading talks that could incite a coup, to present himself to Police Headquarters on Monday for questioning.

The lawmaker is facing the accusations after he made an appearance on pro-opposition television channel Raajje TV on July 28. He is accused of speaking with regards to the state in a manner that could incite the people to commit unlawful acts and attempt to topple the current government and president.

Police had previously summoned MP Musthafa for questioning but soon afterwards cancelled the session.
