The Maldives’ Parliament has decided that parliament staff must fill out a special permission form, a copy of which has to be forwarded to Maldives National Defence Force (MNDF), in order to work inside the parliament administrative building during unofficial hours.
In a memo issued Sunday, parliament Secretary General Ahmed Mohamed declared that staff must fill out the form seeking permission to work in the office during unofficial hours and forward a copy of the form to MNDF’s duty desk. The staff are to seek permission from four individuals of the parliament leadership via the form, who are; SG Ahmed Mohamed, Deputy SG Fathimath Niusha, Assistant SGs Abdul Hameed Zakariyya and Mohamed Rasheed.
SG Ahmed Mohamed explained that the decision was taken in order to further strengthen parliament security. He also stressed in the memo that all staff coming to work during unofficial hours must wear their staff identity cards in plain view.
According to a parliament administrative staff, the Parliament chambers and gallery are currently locked and secured.
