Ooredoo profit up by 21 percent in first half of 2017

Telecom giant Ooredoo Maldives experienced a 21 percent increase in profit during the first half of this year.

In a press conference held Tuesday to celebrate the company’s 12th anniversary in the Maldives, Ooredoo’s CEO Najib Khan announced that company profit increased to MVR 303.4 million within the first six months of 2017. The profit in the same period last year was MVR 250.6 million.

According to CEO Najib, Ooredoo Maldives’ customer base saw a spike of eight percent with 400,000 customers so far. He highlighted that the company’s revenue also increased in the first half of this year with a record of MVR 921.4 million, which is an increase of 15 percent from the previous year’s MVR 801.9 million.

Celebrating the company’s progress as unforeseen, CEO Najib declared that Ooredoo Maldives was launched with a special vision to improve Maldivians’ lifestyles with modern, innovative services and international telecommunication technologies.

Ooredoo Maldives further announced special promotions to mark its 12th anniversary while the company also plans to introduce new services over the course of the year.
