President Abdulla Yameen pronounced Tuesday that he has no quarrel with any members of Parliament.

The president made the remark in the ruling coalition’s Viber group chat, referring to the lawmakers of ruling Progressive Party of Maldives (PPM) who signed the joint opposition’s petition to file a motion of no confidence against the parliament speaker.

Opposition lawmakers submitted the resolution to file the motion of no confidence against Parliament Speaker Abdulla Maseeh with 45 signatures on Monday, ten of which are from PPM members. The opposition coalition are also claiming that more lawmakers of the ruling coalition will vote in favour of the motion.

In his message to PPM’s parliamentary group, President Yameen stated, “No MP is working to vacate Maseeh’s chair in order to hinder the president.”

Declaring that there are no problems between him and any of the lawmakers, President Yameen added that difference of opinion is by no means a go-ahead to “shattering the team”.
