MPL once again defeated their neighbours Customs RC, this time in the semi-final by 10-1, to advance to the final of 18/30 Women’s Futsal Fiesta 2018.
They have now netted a tally of 51 significant goals so far in the tournament from only five matches. Fathimath Joozan Zareer is their top scorer with 14 goals.
MPL had an easy first half as Customs stood back without offering any threat to their goal. Customs was only attempting to defend, and practically never crossed the halfway line.
MPL took an early lead, which came from an own goal by Firushana Naseer of Customs. Aminath Shaaliyaa (Shaa) then scored a brace before the halftime to make the scoreline 3-0.
Fathimath Joozaan Zareer extended the lead for MPL, inside only the 2nd minute after the restart.
Unlike the first half, Customs surprisingly needed to get back into the match in the second half. As such, they ran forward on numerous occasions, attempting to break the solid defence of MPL.
Firushana Naseer of Customs then paid back for her initial mistake, by breaking the deadlock of MPL in the 9th minute of the second half to make it 4-1. That made Customs the only team to score against both finalists of the tournament.
However, it turned into the worst nightmare for Customs in the last five minutes of the match as MPL netted five goals in five minutes to make the full-time score 10-1.
MPL will face Police Club in the final on Wednesday.
