MIRA drags 13 firms to court over unpaid island fees

Maldives Inland Revenue Authority (MIRA) has filed lawsuits against 13 companies for unpaid settlements over leased islands for resort development within the last month.

These lawsuits include islands leased to companies of Jumhoory Party leader Qasim Ibrahim, ownership companies of top politician Abdulla Jabir, AAA Company, Former Minister Hussain Hilmy’s shareholding company as well as a shareholding company of Athama Ibrahim Didi.

Meanwhile, MIRA has released a press statement urging media not to spread false information without proper verification. This was due to media reports of the lawsuits filed against Qasim’s Villa Companies, J.H resorts, and Jabir’s Yacht Tours.
