Main opposition Maldivian Democratic Party (MDP) on Tuesday blamed the government for the current uncontrolled spread of swine flu in the Maldives, accusing the administration of deception and negligence regarding public health safety.

In a press conference held by MDP’s Health and Welfare Committee, former Minister of Fisheries and Agriculture Dr Ibrahim Didi proclaimed that it has been a month and a half since swine flu began spreading swiftly across the Maldives. He alleged that the government had covered up the epidemic with blatant disregard for public health.
