Maldivian holds Aasandha’s reservation in the next round

Maldivian defeated Aasandha by 3-2, in a decisive clash of Group-A. It indeed was necessary for Maldivian to avoid a defeat, if they are to remain alive in the Club Maldives Cup 2019.

The first half of the match was fast paced and wonderful goalscoring opportunities were created at both ends. Hamza Mohamed (Hampu) of Maldivian scored the opening goal in the closing minutes of the first half.

Mohamed Ajufaan (Arjun) extended the lead for Maldivian, just after the restart of the game and Hussain Afsal (Ozil) made it 3-0 a minute later.

However, the strong hands of Aasandha’s goalkeeper Hussain Haafiz, who succeeded in thwarting many of the Maldivian’s chances in the second half, and the threatening runs from Ali Hamdhaan, dragged them back into the game, with a brace from their goal machine, Ibrahim Maisaan (Mai). Aasandha was unfortunate to find an equalizer before the final whistle.

In round two, Ooredoo secured three points against Trade Club to remain on track. Mohamed Fashir of Ooredoo took the lead in the fifth minute before Husaain Ahmed Moosa equalized for Trade Club. Fashir scored again to regain the lead at the half time.

Ooredoo created more goalscoring opportunities throughout the match. As a result, Mohamed Rishfan scored a brace in the second half. The evergreen Ali Shareef and Jumail Jameel scored the goals for Trade Club in the second half. Match ended 4-3 to Ooredoo.
